Carl- another question: Are you going with the perimeter bracing? You would have to with a center overflow, I suppose...

Yeah, I know. But I always put em on my own stands anyway- since I don't really expect an oceanic to leak and if my reef leaks I figure the cost of the tank would be the last of my worries. Do they warranty the contents also?

Actually considering an Oceanic stand because I'm feeling lazy- but they are kinda expensive...

The starphire glass is really pretty expensive, I think it is going to be about double the price of a regular 120 the way they are making it for me. You can get just the front glass done, but I went ahead and did the sides of the tank as well. I am not sure what perimeter bracing is or if it will have it, but I do know it does not have a center brace across the top. I know some people probably feel the starphire glass is not worth the cost, but I figure I won't buy another tank for a long time (if ever), and I wanted to see what it is like. Heck, some people spend about the same on a leather couch as I am on the tank. I have made my own stand before, but I don't want to deal with the time it takes to make a nice one for this tank so I got the black oak oceanic. Plus, you get the warranty of course. The reason I don't know the exact cost yet is because a friend of mine is ordering it for me and I have not paid for it yet. Oh, and they drilled (2) one inch holes in the overflow. I should have gone with 1 1/2" holes, but thought about that too late. I can't wait to get it ! My favorite thing about moving is setting up this new tank. :D

I just (finally) got prices etc from my LFS on various Oceanic configurations. The one interesting thing the rep said is that a 120 needs no bracing- cross, perimeter or otherwise!

So it can have a single large overflow in the center. Think I will go with the brace and corner overflow anyway.

So does that mean you can remove the glass center brace on the 120RR without affecting the structural integrity of the tank?
