Hi everyone!

I'd like to know who here is from the NJ/NY/PA tri-state area, say within an hour to 1.5 hours from Sussex County, NJ. Where do you shop for your livestock? What is the quality of the LFS in your area? Who would you recommend/advise against? I'm moving back up there next year, and from my last vacation, I don't remember a whole lot as far as quality storefronts.

Thanks for the help!

Scott,

Come down to Allentown, Pa, just within your 1.5 hr. limit. Check out Shear Heaven Pet Shop (www.shearheavenptes.com for directions) and Something Fishy (www.toofishy.com). There is also Pet Place in Wayne, NJ on Rt. 23 N. Good selection of fish, and some inverts, but the coral selection is pathetic.

Where in Sussex are you moving? I used to live in Sparta Lake.

I visited Animal Kindom when it first opened and was horrified at conditions. Wasn't impressed by their resident marine biologist either. It has since improved, but I tend to avoid chain pet shops.

I used to visit the Zoo quite often, when I kept African cichlids. As I recall there wasn't much of a marine selection at that time, but the display tank was nice.

As pet shops go, Reef & Fin is about the best in the area.

IMO

Do you mean Wantaugh, Long Island...? Pets Warehouse in Copaige is good... as well as Country Critters in Medford (alittle pricey but worth the trip and more expensive prices-livestock is unbeatable)

Check out Absolutely Fish in Clifton on Rt 46W. It is the old Aqua Tropics.

SteveP - Pet Place in Wayne has been closed.

I would second country critters on Long Island- I drive all the way from Albany! The people are creeps there, however. If you are going to reef and fin, House of Fins is very nearby and also worth a visit (both connecticut).

FISHTOWN USA in Flushing Queens,NY. They are located on the corner of Northern Blvd and Francis Lewis Blvd.

The Pet Barn in Franklin Square LI,NY is the place I frequent most.

I use Absolutely Fish on Rt 46 in Clifton. Very good selection of fish and corals. Also you can try Hanover Pets on RT 10W in East Hanover. They also have a good selection.

I 100% reccomend the hidden reef. it is located on the rosevelt boulivard in philia. best livestock in the northeast us. if you want super cheap dry goods go to that pet place in lancaster pa. it might be a haul though. www.thehiddenreef.com and thatpetplace.com must check out. take my word for it.
