VHO vs Power Compact

What are the differences between VHO and power compact? Which one will generates more heat?

Pc's are brighter, last longer (at least twice as long), and therefore more energy efficient. Heat output of either is generally minimal, though I'd still add a fan. People seem to prefer vho's based on aesthetics, the actinic flourescent output, but overall Pc's are simply the best technology out there, unless you're going with a tank above 24" height where halides might be needed-reef.

the bulbs on my icecap 110w vho and 160w vho are about 15-20d. cooler than my csl 32w pc on the mini reef. the ballast on the pc is cooler by about 10d. hope this helps!
i'm not overly impressed with either light but the pc bulb almost hurts to hold (i'm a welder thick skin) so i like the vho's.

and VHO generate more UV radiation then PL does! I prefer PL also! The only lights that can beat PL to me is MH in an 24inches deep tank. if I have an 18", I'll go for PL

You get more of a Bioluminecent Glow from your corals when using VHO tubes. But the PC's do last longer.

I think the best thing about the VHOs is that they come in longer lengths. The PCs would be better if they made them 46"-48".
