I have several loose zoos that I want to glue to a piece of rock using crazy glue gel. Is this safe? Has anyone done this before? I don't want to lose them...they are fairly rare.

You can try, it might work. Just make sure that you handle them with gloves. They are highly toxic to us, and should never be handled without gloves.

If I could get mine out of the tank I would glue them to my toilet. They have turned into the plague of my reef! Take care to not let them get to your main rock structure.

According to Eric's book, "all species of Palythoa and most related zoanthids including the protopalythoa species produce a toxic chemical called palytoxin in their mucus and gonads. Indigenous Pacific tribes used this neuromuscular agent to tip spears in order to paralyze their enemies . This is a potent toxin and can be deadly to humans."
Myself I can't tell them all apart, I just am very carefull around them. Just make sure that your wearing gloves and you should be fine.

Louey, I'm not sure to tell you the truth, maybe someone else knows.
The book is a excellent book and does show you good pic's of all the corals etc. It's called" Aquarium Corals " selection, husbandry and hatural history by Eric H. Borneman. It's definitely worth every cent!

Hi,,
I was very surprised to hear that Palythoas and Zooanthids were highly toxic, as stated above !!!
Been handling/propagating them for many years, without gloves and have never gotten sick at all.
Was I just lucky ?? :?
They do "slime" but I just grab a towel for that.
Have had no luck trying to glue them to a rock with Coral glue or Super glue, though.
Seems to burn them-so I just stick any loose ones into a hole in a rock where they can attach on thier own.

Me too, hey if i get nuked w/ palytoxin, at least i'd die doing something i loved! :D

I've had the exact opposite results than flameangel, i glue zoanthids to rocks all the time, and i've only had a few fall off due to errors on my part. Very interesting, give it a try though. If you can, put the whole rock w/ the polyps in a net breeder so you won't lose the polyps behind a rock if they do fall off. HTH
