Green chromis. Are they best kept individually or in a group?? Any recommendations on size of the group?? It's for a 37 gallon tank. (I know some FW fish species are best kept in odd numbers)
I have had a school of 5 chromies in my 75 for about 8-10 months. I think they are a great addition to a reef tank. Schooling behavior adds a nice element to the tank IMHO.
I kinda agree with guppy here, I have had 12 in my 125 reef. They look great together but after awhile they slowly started on one another. Its been two years now and I am down to 6. Not sure of the reason here, maybe some one can add to this.... :?:
I have had the same thing, I bought 5 for my 125 and they would pick on one and ten one day it would dissapear then another one and so on and so on. Then the final two fought till they both died. They never picked on other fish, but I always thought they were more docile. I have tried 2 once before and found one in my overflow and one on my center brace. I have never had goodluck with them, and they are the only fish that I have had that have died.
I have 17 Green Chromis in my 65. All told, I started with about 25 several months ago, and now the school has stabilized at 17. I think you need enough Chromis to spread out the aggresion...I have never had much luck when I kept less than 10 of them.
