Mc500 Vs Mc600

Hi there... i am owner of 150liters aquarium without sump...

now i am getting an upgrade to 350liters (92.4US gallons)

I will still have no sump.. and the question is : what would you prefer in my position ,
an MC500 or MCE600? my goal is to hang the skimmer on main tank inside or outside...

I would go for the APF600 at the very least. There is no quality hang on skimmer IMO although these are close.

I use the MCE 600 on my 63 room divider. This is probably the best Hang on Skimmer around although in my opinion the collection cup sucks. I am going to agree with Fritz "I would go for the APF600 at the very least". However if you are restricted to a HOB (hang on the back) skimmer. MCE 600 is the way to go.

i have a mc 500 it is loud and it is very hard to clean but it is a good skimmer

Tony, you still think that skimmer is loud? I wish I could hear it. I never heard a peep from it.

I think the MC500 or MCE600 HOB is too small for a 92g tank like fritz said the APF600 is what you need if you want to stick with Deltec.

i have the mce600 it is a great skimmer but there are two things that need to be done to this skimmer once a week i let the airline suck up some hot water to clear the venturi. second thing is about every six months you need to change the grommets. tonyammine that is more than likely where the the loud noise is coming from. being that i have this skimmer in my sump anyway. if i had to do it all over i would get a beckett or that ati 160 looks real nice

sorry mike but can u please tell me what a grommet is? dont get me wrong i am very happy with this skimmer it works great but it is loud but im gonna try what you recommened dont worry scott i dont have any complaints thanks guys

The MC500 is an in-sump skimmer.

And I agree the mce600 is a little underpowered for a 350l.
