im gonna set up a 240 gal and move everything from my 100 gal reef and 20 gal refugium.

i plan to 1st move the 4" DSB from refugium (~100 lbs) into the 240 gal filled with water and with 3.5" DSB (400#) (new southdown). will also add about 100-150 lbs of cured LR in there...
(for 2-3 weeks without lights)
this should seed the rest of the new sand in there...right?

should i add any dead shrimp then? and am i right for expecting just a minimal cycle?

after that, i plan to add the rest of LR(250#) and LS(60#) and all corals, fish, and inverts into the 240. (in one day)

does my plan seem ok?
by the way i will have a refugium but no skimmer.

Yes

You can add fresh raw shrimp to kick-start the nitrogen cycle, prepping the tank for the higher bioload it will soon be receiving. And yes, you should expect an abridged cycle, faster then if you were starting the tank from scratch (e.g. raw live rock). Continue to test your water, however, and don't assume.

The plan is too accelerated. Ideally, after moving over the sand and rock, I'd wait at least 2 weeks before adding corals (or whenever your NH3 and NO2 levels reach zero). Although you'll experience a relatively "minimal cycle," the disruption to the organisms responsible for the N cycle will be significant enough to severely affect your water's chemistry. Ammonia and nitrite levels will elevate, and they may kill (depending on concentration), so be careful. Again, don't assume. Test your water and introduce livestock only once NH3 and NO2 levels read zero. If you transfer your entire stocking list over the day after the new tank is set up, it's a gamble at best, and I would expect to lose some livesotck.
