I saw the topic for this just recently but couldn't think of the dumbest thing I ever did. Well I just did it! I am moving this month and I have been making all the preperations. Well I moved my kalk tank without disconnecting the hoses to my dosing pump and 'splash' there it goes into my sump. Of course they glue the Liter meter case shut, so there is no easy way in. I drilled a hole in it so I could drain all the saltwater out. I dont think there is any saving it.

Anyone ever take one of these thing apart?

Glued? Funny, all of mine are screwed together. The screw heads are concealed by the label on the front of the unit.

Yup - obviously you don't have much experience **cking with electronics - there is ALWAYS an access

all four corners under the label are screws

yeah, yeah, ok, I told you it was dumb. In my panic I couldn't find any screw holes. The drill through the side proved to be the fastest way to get the water out anyhow. I wil ltake it apart after it is all dry and see what it looks like inside. And No, I don't have much experience fixing small electronics. If I can make it work with a hammer I may as well throw it away.

Same thing happened to me. I called them, and they told me to take it apart(by removing the 4 screws covered by the sticker label, then soak the electronics in clean RO water(unplugged of course). Then air dry for a couple of days. I put it back together and it works great again.

I've looked around online for a good description of these but i keep finding the same cut and paste (from the spectrapure website)... can one of you "owners" explain it to me? i'm dosing my kalk (and topping off) nightly with a homemade device that's an annoying pain in the rear... I'm thiking of investing in one of these but would rather hear some true testimonial about what i get for my $240 and how it works (everyone sure seems to love them!)

thanks ahead!
