I seem to have an infestation of coral eating flatworms (planaria). These are not the pest flatworms commonly associated with mushrooms but true predatory worms. They are ~0.5cm long, blend in with the coral they are eating and leave pock-mark like areas of tissue destruction where they feed. Eggs are laid at the base of coral tissue and are a golden brown color. The corals they have infested seem to be irritated and polyp expansion is poor. Also, they seen to favour the wide smooth branch acros (tricolor - A. valida in my tank). I know I have seen a reference to them somewhere but can't think of the place.
Does anyone have experience with this type of worm? Any known natural predators? I have recently added some clown gobies in the hopes that they will take care of the corals they inhabit. I scrape the eggs off and do Lugols dips with some success but I would like to find a more definitive method. Any help appreciated.
