I've read about people using superglue to glue sheets of GSP's on the back glass. My question is can you just use regular superglue? If so, will it work if gluing over coralline? I want to glue them to my standpipe which is covered in coralline. Do you just apply the glue to the back of the mat and then put it in place? How long does it take the glue to dry?

Appreciate the help,

Star polyps are the easiest of all to propagate that I have tried. Yes, you just peel up some of that bumpy purple astroturf they pop out of, put Super Glue gel (I use a cheap brand from Wal-Mart that has little grips to squeeze in from the sides, it costs about $3 and is very thick, I forget the name.)

You just dab some onto the back of the thing and stick your hand quickly into the tank and stick it right where you want to without having to disrupt your tank. It glues quickly underwater, hold it in place about 10 seconds and you're done! It will take a few days for your nervous little polyps to come back out, but withing 3-4 weeks you will see the patch start spreading new lighter purple stuff and baby polyps.

Oh, by the way, your original polyp rock will quickly patch it in if you remove pieces about 3/4 of an inch across.

Have fun!

How long does it take the glue to dry?

Soley FYI:
The polymerization of cyanocacrylate polymers (super-glue) is base catylized. It is usaually the basic portion of water in the air that catalizes the reaction. Therefore, it should set extremely fast when in contact with a nice basic salt water aquarium. [/b]
