Pics of how you return your water into the tank

Hey coral reefers,

I am planning the plumbing of my new tank, a 75 gallon reef. I am putting an undertank tank sump in, and i am looking for ideas on how to return the water into my tank.

So, show me pictures of how you get water back into your tank. I really am starved for ideas.

I used a mag drive to pump water back into tank. and used gravity to feed into sump

i am having trouble tryign to vision how to bring the water back into the tank without drilling for the return flow. what fixtures do you have dispensing water back into the tank? how do you have it enter the tank..

They have these "spout" looking things that hang over the edge of the tank for return. I dont personally like em but if dont want to drill thats probably your only option !

here's a little sometin' somethin'.....

My little giant sucks water in from the front and then pumps water into the sump and up to the main tank. I have ball valves and "quick release" type connections. If I want the water to stop going topside, then I just shut the top off and open the bottom. If I want to take things apart they come apart really easy.

My tank has an enclosed top. If not, I'd seriously be planning on some seaswirls.

I am not sure if this picture will post, it is my first posted picture attempt.

I am planning on running a 1" by 1/2" plexi-glass strip the width of my tank from back to front. pvc will return from the sump and be attatched to the plexi-glass strips. The pvc will have T joints with 90" elbows pumping the return water into the tank. I am thinking about putting a spout on the ends of the elbows. I plan to have eight elbows return water into the tank.

suggestions on this setup?

I've seen other setups like this. Good dispersion and water flow. Usually, they run along the back of the tank because maintenance is harder when you have something in the way all the time. You might want to angle your 90 degree elbows to bounce off the front & back glass though. If they point striaght down, depending on the depth of your tank, you may just be blowing sand around.

Also, I *believe* you would have to use a very high preassure/high flow pump to keep good water movement from the returns also, since you're splitting the return several times basically you would probably loose a lot of head preassure.

k77 is right I think. You will loose alot of head pressure with splitting soo many times... I would go with a return on each end of the tank and then a few powerheads in the tank.
