I'm having hardwood floors put in this weekend and will need to move my tank (only once) across the room... about 10 ft' to a new stand. I'm dealing with a packed 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. I'm assuming most of it is pretty straight forward (move water, corals, fish, LR, etc. into buckets) - but what i'm thinking about the most is the refill - assuming i leave my sand in there - and about 2-3 inches of water - will me and 4 friends be able to lift it the 10 ft to the new stand? is there a risk that it will break even if we are careful? when i'm refilling the water - how can i do it so that the sand doesn't cloud up like crazy (i heard one guy say to put plastic bags over top of the sand before i pump the water back in)... anybody been through this??????

I apologize if I misread it, but did you say you are moving the tank 10 ft to a new stand? If there are 2 stands (old and new), I would try to slide the old stand + tank to the new stand and do a slide/shift. Better to be safe then sorry.
One trick I use to prevent sand gets agitated too much is place a rigid board (acrylic, plywood, multi layer of plastic bags weighed down with rocks/brick...etc) directly onto the sand. Water may splash around, but that's fine, you will probably want to siphon out those remaining few inches of water anyway, as they would be in cloudiest color you've ever seen in your lifetime. All you need to preserve is the integrity of the sand and it's layers of aerobic and anaerobic zones.

dammhippo - that's exactly right - i got a new stand and it's on an area that's already been "hardwooded". it's about 10 feet from the current stand. I'm going to drain everything out like you say (great idea) then try and muscled the entire old stand (and tank still in place) right next to the new one and slide it over... i have about 150 lbs. of sand in there - plus 2-3 inches of water will be heavy!
