I know I read somewhere about the mag screws rusting and possibly leaching into the tank, but I can't find it anywhere. All I can find is that the pondmasters do this. I have a mag drive 12, do I need to worry? The screws are black and show no signs of rust yet, after about 2 months submersed. If so, will a stainless steel screw hold up ok? Or what else should I get?

TIA,
Dave

if the screws are black, they are annodized, and shouldn't rust. if they are shiny (like the pond masters) then they will rust. change them out for stainless if you want.

hi.
There are many different grades of stainless steel. For saltwater application, I think the only type that is recommanded is SS316. Everything else just takes longer to pit and rust.

From what I have learned from all the helpful posts here and at RC, I do have the anodized screws so there is no need to worry.

Thanks for all the help, you guys ROCK!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
