I was advised to use IPSF wondermud and live sand activator to seed my sand bed. Anyone out there use their products? I would like to know what you think about them if you do. What do you recommend if I get the 9 for $99 deal.

Thanks,
Roy

I just ordered the 9 for 99. My sand bed is maturing, but not as fast as I'd like. I hear so much good about them, it's like a mantra in my head "Om Mani IPSF Hum". Email me Monday and I'll give you the scoop on acclimating, arrival, etc........

I got the 9 for $99 when I set up my tank in 2000. I now have a very diverse and efficient sandbed largely inpart to the critters I got from them. I have heard some folks with issues about not getting email support when they send them questions before an order, but I am sure they are busy...As far as post-order satisfaction, I haven't heard a single bad thing.

The previous keeper of my reef ordered from them a couple of times... and yeah, they sell great stuff. As far as dry-goods go, their "complete polyp food" seems to please my softies nicely.

I'm going to do their 9/$99 deal when I start setting up my 120gal in a few weeks. Yee!

OK, here I go:

I thought the sandbed clams were lethargic, because it took forever to bury themselve. Within 6 hours, they have all disappeared. They were 1/2" across.

Wodermud had extra snails, they are munching. As well as bristle worms, please let me transgress and cinfuse wondermud with live sand activator.

There must have been 30+ snails in my order, all different types, and all working hard 10 HOURS AFTER ACCLIMATION!

Mini hermite go after clams, must becareful until clams burrow.

Pods are huge 3/16" Had to hide them as Jawfish and Firefish got all hot and bothered.

I dropped the anthelia. Then I dropped the in a crevasse in the tank. I thought I killed them, decided to rubberband to a rock, they are all exsposed now. I thought I killed them, but they look happy.

I really feel like I got my money's worth. Ask me next week and I'll give an update.

Out of about 100 maybe more animals, all are alive. This is a good thing.

The Hell with e-mail!! A few years ago, I called their toll-free number. Low and behold, Gerald picked up the phone. We spoke for about 10 minutes. He answered all of my questions and I never felt rushed. Great company.

Glad this worked it's way to the top again. The animals I got are doing great, one sandbed clam died, but I think something ate him.

In retrospect, the only good things i got from the kit (actually, the only things still alive, well, and multiplying) were the bristle worms, mini-stars, and strombus snails. They've all reproduced like crazy. The macro didn't grow well, i think it needs a moderate nutrient load. There were a whole ton of intertidal nerites which all congregated in my overflow and several really tiny turbo's which disappeared. THe live sand activator was chunky crushed coral. When I got my kit, i wrote up a little review so you can see exactly what you're going to get. HTH

i heard alot of good things about ipsf, so i ordered there 9 for 99 special around feb. maybe is should of waited until the spring time to order when it is warmer, but when i got my specimens over half of it was dead. i think it was due largely in part that i live in ct, the cold weather, and it took three days for me to get it. don't get me wrong they put alot of attention into packaging even put a heat pack in the container, also had a couple of extras :D , but the were dead :( . i emailed them and let them know the specimens that died and told them about how long it took me to get it and they didn't even ask me to send it back they just sent me all new stuff. unfortunatly about half of it was dead so i got 3/4 of my order, and i figured no need to kill anything else. would i order from them again probably not as long as i'm in connecticut, they ship from HI so that is about as far apart as u can get and still be in the united states. i will say that it got to tennessee in 2 days so if u live anywhere to the west of that then u are probably in good shape.
