Very nice Bryan! The only problem I see is that the sofa is turned in the wrong direction  .

Yes the couch is turned the wrong way! The wife does not like it the other way.

Dan, If you are talking about the coral in the lower center of the last photo, it is not a colt but yes it grows like a weed. This was a 1" frag about 6 months ago. I am not sure of the actual name but it is a sinularia sp.

Bryan.

I'd love to have some of your "weed" if you are willing to frag it.

(Sorry, I always call the sinularia as colt, although they are somewhat different..........just habits...)

This is my grow out system and my holding system. I built the deck behind the tank to make it easy to access the bottom of the tank.

Bryan that set up is great. When I finally get my own house I'd like to set up something along those lines. If you have any to spare, Id love some of the sinularia as well.

Whoa! Brian the fish room impresses me more than the nice tank. That's a fantastic set up. Exactly what I dream of.
Post more pics of both the tank & fish room!

Dude, Dude, Dude, You are so far past out of control, and I'm drooling and gnashing my teeth in envy.

How'd you sell that one to the wife, and oh, orgasmic grow out room.

I'm overwhelmed!!!

Talk to us about the plumbing going on in there, how does the flow go from fuge to grow out, etc... Is everything tied together?

The entire setup is pretty simple. All of the systems are plumbed together. They share a common sump and a single return pump. I use a Dolphin 3000/6000 pump set at the 3000 gal an hour setting. The sump can be seen in the photos above under the cube system. I have a 1” seaswirl in the center of the main tank and two ¼” stationary return lines. The rest of the tanks have stationary return lines. The filtration is minimal.

(Here goes the flames) The main tank has a plenum with a 3" sand bed. For those of you who do not like plenums, I understand but this one has been in place for 3 years and you can see it works. The grow out tank has a 4" sand bed only. My mechanical filtration is a Red Sea Berlin skimmer. That is it. I have 0 nitrates.

I do not add any supplements or Kalk. The system provides all the corals need to grow. I used to run a calcium reactor but no longer do.

Lighting on the main tank is 2 400w 12K sunburst MH with a PFO ballast, 4 6' actinic URI bulbs with 2 Icecap 660's. The grow out has 2 250w MH one 12k sunburst and one 65k iwasaki. One is on an Icecap MH the other is on a PFO. It also has 4 4' vho 2 50/50 and 2 actinic on an Icecap 660. The cube system has 4 NO bulbs on an unknown ballast.

The reef is built on platforms so I can increase my open surface area on the sand bed. The rockwork you see in the photos is actually hollow due to the platforms. I have a document that shows step by step how I set it up if anyone is interested. Maybe I will put it out on the web and provide you a link if you want to see it.

Bryan,

The tank looks great. Do you have any trouble cleaning the front glass on the inwall? I had one built in like that once, but I could not see very well when trying to clean from inside the equipment room. A magnet cleaner helps, but cleaning near the sand line has got to be tough.
