I was browsing through some websites......

Came across something I found incredibly interesting, and had a crazy thought.

Carib-Sea makes a substrate called Thaitian Moon Sand, which is jet black.....


I'm thinking a black substrate would look awesome in a clam tank! IMO, I think it'd make the colors just totally pop out , etc etc.

Opinions???

That interests me also, I've seen black substrate for FW as well as SW. Hopefully we'll here from someone who has tried it...

The black sand is actually ground up natural black glass. While it is pretty, it it not carbonate based and will do nothing for buffering (the effectiveness of actual buffering affect of sand is up for debate as well).
