Yes, it's always wise to make up your mind about a new coral to have when you don't know anything about it. You're dead set on getting it and you don't even know if you have the proper conditions for it?

I have a much better idea. In the future, why don't you select corals based on the habitat your tank provides. Figure out which ones will thrive in your tank, then pick out the ones that are most appealing to you.

You've taken your scolding, now here's some info, just so you know I'm not a complete a$$.

The Merulina Coral will need a high light level and placement at mid-level or higher in the aquarium with a medium water movement. While it rarely exposes its polyps, they may occasionally be seen at night. The sweeper tentacles that are used to gather food will reach about three inches in length. It is, therefore, a good idea to keep other corals outside of this range. For continued good health, it will require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

It will benefit from additional food in the form of micro-plankton or brine shrimp twice a week.

I had a roomate who kept one under NO flourescents. He had lots of mojo. I've often heard these things require high light, though I"ve never known anyone to have success with them besides my one roomate. They are supposedly VERY DIFFICULT to keep.

Attached is a picture of the rather uncommon green morph of merulina that I have had for about 5-years. I keep it under metal halide but I find it to be rather hardy, but not real fast growing. Most of the specimens I have seen have been a pinkish brown sort of color. All have done well for me.
