I just finished converting my diy 20 gallon long sump for my 75 gallon reef into a diy 20 gallon long sump/refugium.

i'm using the light everyone recommended from the hd and it's working out great..

here's my question..

for multiple reasons my reef is not a good place for shrimp, but has an aptasia issue.

can i put a half dozen or so peppermint shrimp into the refugium and then put pieces of coral/rock that need "cleaning" down there for a week or so?

thanks for your input.

... but consider that if you add predatory organisms to your refugium, it may no longer be a refugium.....

Excelent point, then you'd just have an "ium" with no refuge...

If you're going to do that, then just pick up some camel shrimp. They eat everything, coral too! They're just terribly non-reef safe so make sure you don't get a hitchhiker back into the tank...
