I'm planning a large (300-500) gallon setup in my new home but just couldn''t wait the amount of time it's going to take me to get it up and going. So, I just grabbed a 20g out of the garage and put it on my desk. Should be a fun little setup to get me back into the swing of things again.

Anyone have any good recommendations for a hang on skimmer (non-bakpak) for a 20g.

And I'll also be needing a RO/DI unit that will also be used for the larger tank (probably 500gal). Anyone recommend anything for that? How many gallons/day should I shoot for with that size tank. And what are some of the better RO/DI brands?

Thanks!

JohnA1078,
You might look at a Precision Marine Hot One. I'm using it on my 29 with good effect. Mine's in the sump, but it's made as a hang-on. Search some of our sponsors' web sites. Got mine at Premium Aquatics - Jason is extremely helpful [if he's still there - it's been a while].

I'm really with you on the impatient thing  not to mention intensely jealous at the size of your project!

regards.

2x 4" computer cooling fans from Radio Shack blowing over the surface will work great under the hood for evaporative cooling.
