Im planning on purchasing one of the 18in units from the power buy section. I just wanted to know what i else i will need to purchase for one of these? ie. Miracle mud, algae, rock. Where is the best place to purchase the macro algae and what kinds?

For the lighting - if you have pendants or a decent amount of splash off the back of the tank you likely won't need to supplement your lighting. Otherwise yes a simple gro-light over the refugium will suffice.
For a substrate I would suggest either straight fine grain sand Aragamax or Southdown, and stock the refugium with caulerpa or our personal favorite refugium macro-algae chaetomorpha sp.
Some also like to put rather coarse substrate down in the hopes of getting more cryptic sponge growth, but I personally haven't played with that idea yet, though I intend to.
