Giant clams spawned when they are stressed. They sometime spawned and then die. Your friend will need to change water and need to correct the stress or else his clams will not do well. Unlike other animals in our tank, Clams spawned in an aquarium is not a good sign.
Good luck to him.

If your friend just bought the clam and it had just been collected from the wild and it is the breeding season in your area, spawning would be very normal as the result from the stress, and the clam should survive it
If the clam has been in the tank for over a year this is a sign that the tank is runneing in absolutely perfect conditions and the clam reached breeding condition in the tank and could be spawning because of a amall temperature increase (1-3 degrees C are enough) and again, the clam should survive this.
Whatever the possibilities, your friend must do a 80-90% waterchange as soon as possible because the spawning can not give any results anyway from the resulting polyspermy and other factors, and rotting sperm and eggs are extremely toxic, and most filters will not be able to handle this unless it was a very small spawning.
If this reply reaches your friend more than 24 hours after the spawning and the tank has not crashed yet or is not milky, you don't have to worry about anything, Good luck to your friend, Phil

thank you Minh Nguyen

Philippe Dor the clams are over 2 years in my friend tank
and as for today no damage to the tank at all
the tank has not crashed and it realy clear now
and yes you are right he had a problem with his chiller
and the temp increase about 2 deg.

i like to mention that his tank got top quality water and all the sps
are growing fast so me and him didnt think that the clams spawninig
was for a poor water quality.

Congratulation, this is absolutely fantastic, you must have a really good set-up and are doing a real good job, just pitty that you can't take advantage of such spawnings in a tank situation, Bravo again, cheers Phil.

People have raise clams in clam farm for quite a few years now, at least 12 years. Information on this is extemsive in literature for anyone care to reseach into it.
