I have a 180g with alot of LPS and now I have just started adding SPS. I would like to know if it necessary to have a calcium reactor. I have a kalkwasser top-off system and I also add B-Ionic. I never realized how many people use calcium reactors. What is the main reason for getting one. Is it because it makes for easier maintenance. Is it a must?

I think the reason most use a calcium reactor is that once you dial it in, you no longer have to worry about adding kalkwasser or b-ionic everyday. In the long run (years) it could be cheaper than buying B-ionic.

Most use them because this is the only economical way to get the amount of calcium needed for their reef. Whether it is a must will depend on what your calcium needs are.
