WTF? Never heard of throwing in a pinch of fish food to help kick start your cycle? Oh and FYI some of us have captive bred fish and captive grown corals. Also releasing an animal in an environment from which it is not indigenous can either kill the animal or cause that animal to grow and thrive in that environment and kill animals that are indigenous to that area and it could bring in other environmental problems. 1 example is the snake fish problem another can be found here, http://www.usc.edu/org/seagrant/caulerpa/index.html

I only put animals back into the Sound that I have taken from there.
I also have been breeding fish for about 40 years but very few fish for sale commercially are captive bred.
I probably would cycle a tank with fishfood too I am just saying not to go crazy.

Depending on how long you had the fish in captive, it doesnt matter if you return it to the exact location where you caught it, its still going to end in the fish's demise. The fish that would have acquired immunity to certain things in the wild missed out on its opportunnity to do so while it was in captive.

Keep in mind that its illegal to release any fish or animal into the wild.
