I heard that it is Ok to keep frogfish or anglers in reef aquariums. As I am thinking of purchasing one and adding it to my tank, I was wondering if anyone had any insights into whether this is ok or not. ThanX!!

I have seen them in reefs, and I think they should be ok...except that they will eat your fish and probably any shrimp.

They'll perch on corals like a hawkfish, which might bother them. They'll eat anything twice their size or smaller. I saw one the size of a penny eat a full grown FW betta, and then "accidentally" eat a $125 Helfrichi's firefish at the LFS. I'd keep them in a species tank. They don't need much space and you'll be much more likely to see them than in a reef tank.

Correct, anything up to twice their body size would be an easy lunch, i.e. shrimp, fish etc. So you'd be severely limted on the other animals you'd be able to keep and keep in mind they grow too. So I would second the species tank idea, set up a 30 gallon with a DSB, 20 pounds of LR and a Remora skimmer and he'll have a happy home.

Thanx guys.... Now, do you have any reccomendations on how to get a hawk out of the tank (besides a trout hook and some fishing line)?

Sure, dismantling all your rock works.

Otherwise, you can get those fish traps and wait endlessly hoping one day it will swim into it when you are looking.
