I just introduced a Banggai last night while it was dark and it had atleast 8 hours before the lights came back on to get a feel for the tank. So far it doesn't seem like it has checked out the rock for any hiding places (which I understand they like to hid during the day), it just hangs out at the top of the water in the open area or down near the sand by the corner of the tank. I have a 65 gal with only 65lbs of LR so it has plenty of room to swim around in. Do your Banggai do the same thing, or is this odd? Also, could the current be too powerful for it? I have two 1200 Maxijet powerheads, one on each side of the tank. There are no other fish in the tank, only Anthelia, mushrooms, snails, micro hermits and a normal hermit crab.

This behavior isn't too unusual for a newly introduced fish. Give it a couple of days and it should begin acting more normally.

Thanks, I'm just a little worried about the fella. I purchases two the other day and had them in my qtank, when I got home last night one was dead and I started thinking that maybe the tests I have right now suck, since they said the water was great, but I've got my doubts, and that it might have a better chance of survival in the main tank so I put it in there. I've got new tests on order so I'm going to re-test and re-vamp the qtank.

That's the way my Cardinal behaves & it's been in the tank for over a year. They are basically dawn/dusk predators (that's what the big eyes are for). Mine usually just hovers in a couple of places (like those you mention) all day long. Bangii's also have a swim bladder that allows them to hover w/ little or no effort.

Also, could the current be too powerful for it

Pardon me if I chuckle, as you have the fish longer you'll find out one thing - they are flat out FAST in a straight line run. I don't think current bothers them much, if at all. As with most forked tail fish they can move when they want, mine can easily out run everything else in the tank (angel, dottyback, yellow tang) in a straight line run.

What I'd like to know about them is why does nobody bother them? Mine has NEVER been in a scrap with ANY of the other fish. It's also fearless, it dives right into the feeding frenzy???? (it just seems odd to me they have no apparent offensive of defensive weapons aside from speed).

I've had mine for 1 1/2 years. He always stays out in the open and usually in the same few spots. Seems OK to me.
