I recently purchased items and got FREE shipping and box from Saltwaterfish.com and Reeftopia.com and was very pleased with both. The selections was limited but beat LFS around here like Lewis beating Tyson. Items that would be $25 would be like $6. I also have purchased from Jeffs Exotic fish and have been very pleased with them. I think that 9 for $99 is the BEST deal any where for new to intermetiate hobbist.
So my question is?? Who else has cheap stuff? Perhaps they have some companies that I am not aware of. Thanks for any help.

Also, I am thinking of buying 5 frags for $100 at FFexpress has anyone got those from them? The only other frags I have received were 7 from GARF and they were all brown, tiny and a rip-off
Thanks for all help

Thanks a lot. I was looking for them for 3 weeks now. I saw their banner on reefs.org and clicked over. I decided to purchase some stuff from them and could not find their web site. I kept typing ctropics and got nothing. I will let you guys know how my order goes

You're Welcome.

I've try both reeftopia and etropical. I get fast shipping, healthy stuff from both places. My only complaint is that the 100 hermit for $32 from reeftopia was too small. Etropical used to have a coral package, w/ free shipping; but they cut it out b/c there weren't enough from it.

Jeff's has great customer service, but they screwed my order up pretty bad.

I ordered a sarcophyton and got a sinularia, ordered tubastrea and got some random polyps, etc.

Very good customer service, like I said.

But I'd rather get:

1) freee shipping, especially in Cali where some of these places are and I live anyway

2) no box charge. Come on - $10 for styrofoam and cardboard?

3) no tiny microscopic corals... never ordered GARF, never will

Sure this may be unrealistic. The livestock companies have to make money to stay in business. But when I spend $400, I don't like getting a messed up order and paying $60 just to get the box in the first place.

I'm cheap though. I should take up kites instead, huh?

I've ordered once from Jeff's and will never order from them again. I got their 9 for 99 deal plus some other stuff and they screwed up the whole thing. I asked for Pagoda and a pearl bubble. I called and ordered this and was told it was all ready to go. Next day I open the box to find 4 green brains, all dieing. None lived to see the light of 2 days. So I call up and say, ummm I ordered 1 tracto and I got 4 and they are all dieing and not the corals I asked for. When I say die, I mean, 1/2 the skeleton doesn't have tissue and the other half is belached white with a little circle of green in the middle. So I get the girl on the line that I placed the order with. "Oh I remember talking to you, I told you that we didn't have any pagoda and recommended the open brains to you because they were easy, and you agreed." NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THAT HAPPENED on the phone. I got really discusted because they woudn't give me credit for the stuff that died or the stuff that I ordered and didn't get. Wait I take that back, I got a $15 credit on my next order, woopdedo I can cover the box charge. It was such a waste ordering from them, and I'll never do it again, and I'll make sure other people know why. Its not the dead stuff or the wrong order that bothered me, that can be replaced, it was the lack of service and the blatent lie that was told to me on the phone.

No flames intended, but my company order new UPS shipping boxes all the time and I can tell you boxes ain't cheap, especially well made ones that can really withstand shipping drops. A typical box say, 12 x12 x12 would cost you at least $4 if you buy in multiple pallets of them. For some mail orders, where their usage really isn't that much compared to some other companies, their cost on boxes are obviously going to be higher. Plus you need to add cost of styrofoam boxes, heat pack, cool pack, plastic bags, and last thing.........margin. You shouldn't unrealistically expect company charge you for exactly what they were billed. Mark it up at least 40% would roughly equals $10.

LOL boxes. I had to upgrade to a bigger box because of the summer months. Called the company I usually get them from and they cost me $5 each, but that was just for the styrofoam, had to add in the outer box and liner for each pack of styrofoam, now we're talking $6+ Add to that the freight (which they neglected to tell me they were not going to send them the same way as last time) and I spent another $88 in ground shipping for 40 boxes. Now add in one or two cold packs and see where I stand. All this and I have STILL not charged a box charge because shipping itself is already so much. I'm afraid it's going to change though as that is a cost I can no longer absorb without imposing a min order which I won't do.

When you don't make more on a customers order than the box cost, that's bad bad bad. I wish I knew why everyone always assumes everyone else out there is bending them over and using sand.
