So, I was using tap water for top off. However, last week I had the algae bloom from hell and decided that I need to do something. I can't fork out for an RO/DI unit at the moment. So in comes Plan B: buy RO water from the store. I found some for $0.50/gal. OK, this will work until I can splurge for an RO unit. The problem is, the label says the water has calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate added for flavor. I am not worried about the sodium bicarbonate. Than should help with th Alkalinity (right?). I am worried about the calcium chloride though. Is the chlorine in a combined form and nothing to worry about or should I squirt it with some Stresscoat?

you can go to your local super store and by igloo water jugs the 6 gal size works great. then go to your local pet store they should be able to fill it with r/o water for the same cost. this is a much better soultion because its pure r/o with nothing added.
