I am referring to Xanthichthys auromarginatus or the "Blue Throated Triggerfish". From my personal experience and from what I have read these are (as most triggers) easy fish to keep. I received one on Tuesday from ffexpress and, although, I have seen it out swimming around I have yet to see it eat or act interested in any food (which seems VERY odd). I don't think I have ever seen a trigger not eat. Anyone out there have experience with this fish or others in the genus?

Info: it is in my 225 gal reef with many FAT healthy anthias (squamapinnus, fasciatus, randalli, bicolor, bimaculatus and smithevansi), a purple tang, a small goldflake, a few other healthy fish and many sps corals. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my water, temperature or circulation.

I heard that they are initially very shy and hide. They then come out and are very enjoyable like a normal trigger, except much more peaceful. I have always wanted one!! Good luck, he should come around.

I agree. Give it time and let him get used to things. Shipping can put a tremendous amount of stress on a fish. Beautiful tank by the way.
