I picked up a used 4 year old Aquanetics 1/4 horse chiller over the weekend. Plumbed it yesterday into my 150g tank, set it, and have not noticed much of a change in temp. It ran last night for 7 hrs and all it dropped the temp was 1 degree. I can not feel any warm air blowing off of the unit, so that's telling me there is not much of a heat exchange going on. If it needs servicing how do I do it? Just take it to a small appliance repair shop? Try to recharge it myself? Thanks.

Take it to places that services airconditioning units. Depends on what the problem is, if it needs more freon, that's going to cost you, or if it's fans, or other parts.

How much did you buy it for? Can you return it to the seller? Did he guarantee it's in a working condition?

BTW, is it in a open area (meaning not in a closet or cabinets), is it?

I paid $200 for it from a guy parting out his whole system. I figure that even if I dump $100 into it to get it working I still got a deal. It's in a wide open space with oodles of ventilation.

Some chiller makers have a list of qualified repair centers. Might want to ask Aquanetics directly where you should take it.
