I have a standard 180 gallon reef with mostly soft and LPS corals. I am thinking about adding a couple of clams and some selected SPS corals.
I now have a standard six foot Hamilton hood containing 3 175w MH (6500's) and 2 VHO actinics.
I am thinking about upgrading my lights when it is time to replace the bulbs.
Assuming that I keep the Hamilton hood and do some type of retrofit, what would be the best upgrade in terms of coral health and price? Should I go with 250w or 400w MH? Should I go with electronic ballasts? Where is the best place to shop for the lights?
