For some reason, i can never keep my skimmer level consistant. I set it, then sometime overnight or during the day, it winds up overflowing... I dont get it.

I've had my skimmer for like 3 years now...its a PM HOT 1 with a MaxiJet 1200 (new pump). I keep the venturi clean of calcification, however, it still overflows once in a while.

Could it be the weather? I dont know, ive run out of ideas of what could be the problem. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well, wish i could, but i dont have a dig. camera. But if you check out the Precison Marine website. I have the HOT 1 set exactly the way they show it. Hang-onthe-Back style. However with a Maxi-jet versus the stock RIO... (i actually had the same problem with the rio)

But i keep the level in the tank, topped off all the time...

I've got the same skimmer and found that salt creep will eventually build up in the venturi's air intake. If it builds enough it'll block the airflow and that's when it overflows.

I periodically run a cup of RO water through the air hose to clean it out. I usually do this whenever I do a waterchange. Gotta be careful though and not let too much water get sucked up at once.

Hope this helps you.
