I am having problems with this type of algae in my tank. I would like to know how to get rid of it. what kind of snails, fish etc. will work. Tank has been up for over 1 yr. All parameters are good. 250 watt 10k that is 6 months old. Euro reef cs1-3. 60 gal. Sump has numerous macro algae.

is it confined to the one area?

i don't clean up packages myself, but an emerald eats all kinds of algaes. so do sallylightfoots, but i dislike them both.

maybe some scarlet hermits, or blueleggeds (hear some complaints on the blues though i never had a problem). also hear some good about lettuce nudibranches (they only live a few months though).

the best solution is to scale down on feedings, even a bristleworm will eat that algae if hungry enough.

Yes it is confined to that piece of rock. I bought the stag as a frag and the rock was on it when I purchased it. I will try more critters. However what is the best. I already have 5 blue leg crabs. and about 20 astrea.

Dont scrub it off, beacause in a week you going to have the same problem,i have the same problem with a piece of rock i get from the ocean and i use to trim it, scrub it, ect. i finish the problem with a Yellow tang, and another thing you need more hermits five are not enought. Another thing you can do is, if you dont have any coral attach to that piece of rock take it away and dont give time to propagate to other rocks on your tank. Ralphyhp.

My conch climbs the rocks and has eaten the same algae in my tank. My tang will not touch the stuff.
