with no lights in my tank? one of my aquaspace light ballast bite the dust and is in for repair. It will take about 3 weeks before I get it back. I have an elegance coral, buble coral and frogspawn corals. So, the question is how long would you go with no lights? and would a regular 40w fluorecent light from Home depot help? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is going to be a bit hard on you, but it's for your coral's good. Prepare a kiddie pool in your yard with saltwater, and put your corals in there until you can get your light fixed. You may need a couple fans to blow across surface to aid in cooling. I don't know much about Tennessee, but I would put a heater or two in it to keep temp pretty much constant. I would keep the water/livestock ratio very high. Probably 10 corals for 100 Gallons of out door water. The last thing you want to worry about is water quality for your corals. A powerhead and a windows screen on top to finish this temporary housing off.
When I moved, I had to keep my corals in a temporary holding tank for about a month while we set up my display tank. It kept having multiple plumbing disasters which is why it took so long.
I had three of the 65 watt Lights of Americas from Home depot on top for all that time, and everyone did pretty well. These were mostly sps that were used to 175 watt MH, some softies and LPS too. Some of the sps turned brown, whatever, they are coloring up again as we speak. Another acro lost all it's flesh, but I attribute that to the fact that it was cold when we were moving, and I think it got too chilled.
Nobody else had a problem.
