So..

i've got my float valve all wired up (super easy, go to http://grainger.com and search on item # 2A554 for the valve. )

It works just great, but i'm not happy with the pump i've got it hooked to. It's a Rio 800 (i know, but it was laying around..) that doesn't seem able to generate enough pressure to let me keep the topoff resevoir anywhere but level with the tank.

Since the tank is on the kitchen counter/bar (top of tank is about 6.5' off the floor), that means my resevoir is on the counter... uncool.

Can someone recommend an inexpesive submersible pump that can handle 6.5' of head pressure?

i don't care about flow rate, in fact slower is better.

thanks!

914, I have used a Hagen 802 in the past for this type of application although I only had about 4' of head. It pumped strong and I would imagine it would have no problem handling 6'.

thanks SPC.. i'll check one out.

i like(d) the Rios because the nice small nylon line (the stuff at HD for icemakers) fits very nicely into the outlet of the Rio, all i needed to do was melt the end of the nylon and stick it in.

very tight and secure. i'm sure i cold pull it out if i wanted to.

anyhow, i'll get/look at an 802 and see what kind of hose i'll need...

thanks again!

914, I don't recall what size hose 1/2", 5/8" (?) but a standard size does fit over the outlet of this power head quite nicely.
