I recently picked up a 6" colony of pink acropora. I put it in my 90 gal. tank on the top of the sand bed directly under one of my 175 watt MH pendants. The colony is about 20" below the lights (18" water) in an area of medium to high turbulance. The pair of MH in my tank are supplemented with a pair of 96W PC's. Is this enough light, or should I place the colony higer in the tank?
Thanks in advance.

Acropora gemmifera originates in shallow reef zones and is subject to surging currents and bright light. It will not thrive sitting on the sand under 175 MH lights, and it certainly won't hold its color. Either bring it WAY up and/or get 400 watt lights. Either way, this is not the easiest Acropora species to maintain in an aquarium.

Thanks Greg. I've got a spot in the tank about mid-height. That should effectively double the light. I may need to epoxy it to the rock. Anyone have any recommendations how this should be done?
