this fish was labeled "lemon peel"at the lfs. it looks nothing like the lemon peels i have seen in other stores. it is eating well and does not seem to be bothering any of my corals. my biggest concern is that this fish may not be a dwarf species. if anyone could id this fish i would appreciate it. thanks.

Apolemichthys trimaculatus (Lacepède)
(Flagfin Angelfish, Three-spot Angelfish; Ababang)
SL: to 17 cm (photo: 11 cm SL, Orote Pt., 30 m)

This is primarily an outer reef slope species which occurs at depths of 10 to over 36 m, usually in areas of high vertical relief. It is a generally solitary, relatively uncommon species that feeds primarily on sponges and tunicates.

INDO-PACIFIC: E. Africa to Samoa, n. to s. Japan, s. to New Caledonia.

And anything else it can get its lips around. Definitely not a reef-safe fish. I had one for a long time in an FO tank. The poor thing died a few months ago for some reason. He was only two or three years old too. He picked at absolutely everything, and decided one day to evicerate a few shrimp.

thanks for the info. the dot on the back of the fish had me stumped. he is only about an inch long now and has not been picking at my corals yet, so he will stay in the reef tank until he outgrows it or starts to eat my corals. ill make sure to leave leave him some room in my FO tank.
thanks

I would like to add that if your lfs thinks that fish is a lemonpeel (C. flavissimus), then I would seriously advise looking for a new lfs.
