what size tank ??

I have the mag float BIGGEST one, it doesnt do jack on my 180 gallon tank, I also have that cheapo tunze magnet, which doesnt do jack, I got a Magnavore 6 ( I think it is) and man its cool, maybe a BIT too strong for me :)

my tunze (25.00 one) is on the 26 gallon tank BF which is more perfect for it.

It's a 190. I got a tunze magnet (20 bucks) and it does the job for now. Since my tank has barley started cycling I don't have algae or coralline buildup on the glass. I can tell the magnet doesn't have a firm grip on the glass so I know that it will be replaced with something stronger down the road. I just didn't want to throw out another $100+ for a magnet!

Any of you think these strong magnet cause s those scratches that appear from nowhere in your glass tank. I used the mag float for a year and did not notice scratches I bought one of thoe powerful magnets for 180g 5/8" thick glass and man is it tough to move it but it cleans everything. I wonder about the scratches thoughhhhhhh

I would steer clear of the sand. I get the sand area with a Kent Metal Pro-Scraper with a 35" handle.

Steve: Those magnets are so strong only way to loose is to work it loose and drop it.... A floater is always a safe choice if it is designed for you glass or acrylic tickness. From what I recall the floaters are for up to 1/2 inch glass or mayby 5/8 not sure ...

HI,

The tiger shark is for acrylic up to 3/4" which my tank is. They also have a great white for 1" but I dont know it that one floats.

Yes I have heard that you never want to 2 halves to come together outside the tank or they will not come apart.

I had mine come together impossible to take apart. I was abit lucky I had a towel also stuck between. I was able to drive in a flar plastering blade & then was able to twist them apart. Right now I am not using mine as I am doing something wrong 4 new scratches on glass....

why the hell would a company charge that much for a stupid magnet? i dont care how strong they are- that's rediculous!. i use a mag-float and love it. i have noticed some fine scratches on my glass. don't ovedr do the strength of the magnet or you will have scratches all over.

Scratches is the only reason I do not go with the magnets to clean my glass. Of course I only got a 75g. tank. I would probably consider one if I had 120 or better though. I use a acylic cleaning pad and a fresh razor blade to clean mine. I had a 45g tank that I sold when I got my 75g. And I saw a million fine scratches when the tank emptied and dried. Did not see hardly any with the water in the tank. I used a small mag. on that tank. When I got my new tank I swore I would never use another.

I use the mag float it works well for the easy to scrape off algae. I use the kent scraper for the stuff that wont come off from that. I to refuse to pay so much $$$ for a magnet. I am using the largest mag-float and my tank is a 210g

BTW you tank is looking great King Jason.
