got a berlin skimmer and a amiracle sl-15 wet dry on my way

Hey all

I found a sl-15 wet dry filter and a berlin skimmer minus the lid and pump at a sale.Can i remove the balls and fill the wet dry with live sand and use it that way? for 20.00 i didnt think it was to bad.Anybody know if you can buy parts for the berlin skimmer

for $20 how wrong can you go right? not able to find a good picture of that wet dry i don't know for sure, but from what i have been able to make out it could probably be modified to work as a small refugium. i don't think it will be big enough to have a noticible effect on water quality in a 120 but it should provide some food at least. if it were me i would slap that thing up on ebay and try to dump it at a profit to someone who dosn't know wet dry's a a bad thing. a larger refugium could be built just using a rubbermaid tub hooked into the sump. skimmer wise pumps are atainable but stay away from newer rios if you don't want to zap everything they are notorios for failure. the lid i have no idea on. are you talking just the colection cup cover? would some saran wrap and a rubberband work? hack--yup but i know you are tight on funds so i am trying to think cheap where it dosn't matter
