dead fish please help!!!

Hi I have a 55 Gallon tank with a picasso triggerfish and a niger triggerfish and had a niger triggerfish. i have mushroom corals and a leather coral. i am running a fluval canister filter and a sump with bioballs, and a uv sterilizer with 2 powerheads. All of my water levels are o.k. ammonia 0, ph 8.2, nitrite 0, nitrate 20, (little high) calcium 425. My question is that my niger trigger just died on me, he has been doing great. i didnt notice anything funny about his behaviour. no ich etc.... does there actually have to be a water or parasite or disease problem for fish to die? could it be that this fish was old? please help confused. just like people-or any other animal, fish can get heart attacks, strokes, cancer, organ failures, etc. sometimes these are the causes for fish mortality,too.(it's not necessarily always the fault of a parasite, or ours. :wink: )

Vitz could be right
Is there anything you did different or did just before that might give you a clue.
Do you have an active skimmer? If you don't, sudden fish death may be a result of low oxygen levels in your tank.
Place apowerhead six inches or so below the top of your tank. It will add oxygen, makes the food you feed look alive and fish love swimming in the current.

I'm not sure what you meant when you said all other fish are fine ? Did you have two nigers... :? Or other fish ?

How many fish do you have in your 55 gal? I would think even 2 triggers is crowding it. (I have too many in mine too so I am not trying to be critical, just trying to help find what went wrong.)

On April, you have 55Gal, Then August, you have a 110Gal with quite a few fish. Now you have 55Gal again with a picasso and a niger. How many tank do you have anyway and how many fish exactly do you have in each tank? BTW, the niger you have could have died from a lot of reasons, but old age is not it.
