I am test running a blueline pump as a return pump. I is making a terrible vibration noise . Can anyone tell me what are some of the common reasons why pumps vibrate so much?

Thank you Mark :(

This is a brand new pump, I would hate to think that it has broken already or is defective. Does the pluming have anything to do with it?

Thank you Mark :(

It can. Excessive backpressure can cause vibration. How do you have it connected? Can you submit a photo of your plumbing? Maybe a diagram?

I cannot get a photo to submit now but here is what I have going.

Tha output of the pump is 3/4". I used a 3/4" to 1" adapter first and then into a cross. From the cross I have one side with a ball valve to the chiller, the other side is capped off and the forth side has another ball valve that goes up to a tee. one side of the tee is capped off and the other side is the return for the tank. All of the fittings are 1" pvc.

Hoped that helped.
Thank you Mark :)

I usedsome kind of carpeting material under the pump but it did not help much. What else can I try?

I have had pumps do that that had foriegn objects jammed in the impeller area. Take the pump apart and do a visual inspection. If you can't see anything jammed inside return it to the place you go it.

A common item to be jammed inside a pump is white nylon tape. If you had excess come off a joint it can get caught in the impeller. I have also had parts from heaters, thermonitors and other items get caught inside the pump.

good luck
