had my new 75 setup for a little while now and everything was happy. have a 8" deep sandbed in my refugium so only put 2" in main tank origionally. had a 3/4 full bag of SD left and today decided to add it into the main tank figuring it can't hurt. let's just say my attempt to pour slowly through a funnel into a pvc pipe failed when i dropped the pipe into the tank and didn't have a free hand to stop up the funnel. i have sand everywhere and a huge freaking cloud. my fish have survived three moves now and do well in such conditions so i am not too concerned, hovever corals are still new to me. i have mushrooms, green star polyps, button polyps, and a green tree leather. do i wait it out or start with massive water changes? i have enough fresh mix made up to do up to a 50% change.

i wouldn't change out the water unless it was that time.

give it a day, it will probably clear up.

i have mucked up mine a few times during moves like you stated and i have also added to an established set up.

it usually completely clears within three days. was the added sand wet?

corals can easily go three days in low light.

those corals you have are pretty hardy.
just let things settle as advised. you'll be fine.

your corals can now pretend there's a storm going on.. they should be a o.k.

You might want to hook up a canister filter to help clear it up. I do this once a month when i blast the rocks. Works for me......

You'll be fine I'm sure. Those critters can handle a bad day every now and again. Your eye candy is the only thing that's really hurting here! :P

Man, you'll be fine.

I just dumped (and I do mean dumped) 150lbs into my 75. Then I rearranged it again after it settled. So don't worry.

Vitz made a good point. Sand gets stirred up in nature all the time.
