Ya know... Not for Nuthin..
GOCS, I do like your design. even attempted something somewhat similar at one time. Having 4-thumbs like I do however, it did not turn out at all like I'd hoped. Instead, I just got a 7-dollar plastic trash can at the LHS, drilled a hole and tapped it w/ a threaded PVC 90-elbow fitting I had lying around, sealed it up good w/ teflon tape, chucked a an old powerhead in it, and had my Reactor for under 10-bucks! It's been working great for me for over a year now since we moved into the house.
I admit to really liking the fancy acrylic one's that look like a skimmer, but the device can be made w/ really next to nothing, and still work just fine.

Mac-

Well I had the big tube sitting around collecting dust - plus I had space constraints, so this shape worked out well...

Oh sure, I Like the prettier one's better, and I'm sure they do a better job too... It's just that I've heard and seen a lot of people getting put-off from the idea of using a Neilsen Rxr, because it looks too hard or too expensive to make (nevermind the fact they might have 4 thumbs like me :D). And invariably, the argument that "well, if it's going to be expensive and/or a PIA to make anyways... I might as well make a Calcium/CO2 Rxr", wins out. Was hoping to make sure anyone reading this thread didn't fall into that trap as well.
Nice design anyways :D I may end up copying parts of it when I finally retire the DIY POS skimmer hanging off my tank now :) I knew that those 18" of acrlyic would end up going to a good use eventually :D
