Hi,
I just set-up a nano tank that is about 15 gal. (12 gal. aquarium area and 3 gal.overflow/sump area) and whose filtration is based on approximately 18 lbs. of live rock, 10 lbs live sand, and a venturi skimmer. It is lit with 64 Watts of PC lighting. The tank has been running for two months now with no fish yet. This is not my first marine tank.
I was planning on keeping soft corals but the challenge of keeping an anemone has caught my eye. I am real interested in keeping an anemone and heard BTA's are not a bad choice. Could you give me a breakdown in their care (or websites that do) and if you have any other recomendations? Are there any tips you could share with me that will better my chances with one? Any supplements that work well?
Thanks,
Ralph

Don.t!
Anemones don't survive low lighting. Your tank is so small that the variable conditions of water quality will fluctuate beyond the capability of anemones. You will be better keeping to soft corals such as leathers.
Good luck,

I agree that you are a beginner and should not attempt an anemone yet. But after 6-8 months with stability and some more research I would say go for it. BTAs are great anemones to start with, as they are probably the hardiest and commonly captive propigated.

In a 15 gallon aquarium it should be the only specimen in the tank. BTAs can grow to 8"-12" in diameter. They do not respond well from LPS coral stings. As far as your lighting goes,it would be adequate on a 15 gallon if they are close and the anemone is fed weekly.

Give it some time and some more research and then you will be ready for the challenge.

When I get back to school, my 10gal is gonna house a bubble tip, a mated pair of clowns and maybe a clam or two. It is going to be open topped with a 175w 10k halide, and I also have a sump that brings the total volume to about 20g.
