Arcadia Series 3 Metal Halides - will I need a cooler?

I am about to upgrade my five tube lights (3 white+2 actinic) for this state of the art 'Arcadia Series 3 MH' (2 x 250 watt bulbs + 2 actinics). I live in England and am not sure if this product is sold in the US or else where. Idon't read any mention of them on these pages. I am really keen to know before I pay up my £552 that the 'improved ventilation' really will mean no need for any cooler. Please advise me.

I don't think you will get many responses from the US on this. I found Arcadia lights online and tried to contact the "sole" US distributor, Hikari USA, and got no response (they weren't listed on their web page with the cheaper Arcadia products). I then tried Arcadia, asking them if I could order them here. Same lack of response.

They seem quite similar to AB's AquaStarlight in outward appearance, but I'd want first hand experiences before purchasing, too. Lighting, particularly complete fixtures, seems to be one of the toughest purchases to evaluate before buying, since side by side comparisons are almost impossible to find and there are bulb, ballast and reflector issues to consider, among other issues.

I have series 3 150watt pendant and I find it an excellent unit so cant think why larger units wont be the same.As advertised they are self contained so no need for extra cooling

Hi Cj,
Why dont you get the Giessemann 230 eco+ 2x250w instead. They are a bit cheaper and come with better bulbs.
