I'm interested in setting up a small reef tank, but I know almost nothing about coral care requirements. What is a good begginers book on this subject?

"Aquarium Corals" by Borneman. Got it for Christmas, wish I had it long ago. Also-
"The Reef Aquarium Vol.1" by Sprung and Delbeek. Excellent on the science of reefkeeping

Natural Reef Aquariums by John Tullock is much more basic beginning IMHO.

All the above are excellent books. Not only are they full of pertinent information they also have inspirational photos of corals and home aquariums to loosen the $ from your wallet :)

A couple of more great books are:
"Marine Aquarium Reference" by Martin Moe Jr. $23
"Marine Fishes" by Scott W. Michael $22

A small reference library is invaluable no matter how many years you're in the hobby IMHO.

Regards,
Kevin

i'd also strongly recommend 'the modern coral reef aquarium' by nillsen and fossa

not only do they touch on many corals individually, but they provide one of the most comprehensive explanations of what goes on in a reef tank, overall, which full and detailed explanations of most, if not all, of the issues all reef hobbyists should be aware of, and understand
