Last week I fed my anemones frozen prawns(the frozen kind frm the LFS, I just cannot remember the brand name). The next day they were all regurgitating the prawns in a messy glob. Of course this happened while I was at work and remained in the tank for many hours. This in turn caused a little diatom outbreak, which of course grew on my green acro. It quickly killed off the upper polyps and the lower polyps seem to be reacting badly as well. Just when it's growth was taking off. I do not give the remaining polyps much chance or hope.
Then the anemones shriveled up(one even half bleached) and one even moved under it's rock after being stationary for about two years. Fortunatly they have recovered.
I think the prawns were the problem because I did nothing different except feed these prawns. There must have been something in the prawns That caused all the anemones to "puke".There was a slight ammonia spike but it was don the next day. Virus, bacteria, poison, etc.....who knows? I will no longer feed the prawns. It pains me that I lost my acro. It hurts to look at that half vacant acro tree. I'm not sure if I will get another acro to replace it.
Just thought I would share my experience.
