Ok, so I have had my new lights up on my 5 1/2 gallon for three days now, short photo period so far. Temp hasn't been a problem.

Today when I got home from work and looked in the tank I noticed there seemed to be alot of bubble floating up from different areas of the tank. Mostly looks like it is coming from parts of the live rock. Now this isn't a steady bubbling, like a boil and the bubbles aren't that big, smaller than a "mist" but bubbles none the less.

Any ideas?

Edit: My corals are opened up very nicely, haven't check the parameters (besides temp) but am going to do that now. The tank has been set up for over three months and was set up using fully cured LR and LS...Ammonia and trites have been undetected for over two months.

I have noticed bubbles coming up from the sand when a cyano or dino episode was in the works; anything nasty growing there? At three months you may be due for an outbreak or two.

Couldn't this be a diatom bloom that is just a result of a new tank? I think it probably is, and will pass after about a week.

Just a guess.

There is nothing besides coraline growing right now. I take that back, there is a tiny area on the back glass that has some diatoms on it, a section that the snails, hermits can't get to. Other than that, all the LR, substrate and glass are pristine!

Sounds like the symptoms of a(n) algae/diatom bloom. Those bubbles are usually the result of photosynthesis.

So can I expect to come home one day from work and see the tank covered? Yech, I hope not. But then again, all those janitors I have in there should make short work of a 5 1/2 gallon...
