I think my False Skunk Clownfish's are expecting

8O One of the 2 Clowns belly is really large and she seems to be a little more aggressive when feeding than the usual, is there something I need to do when she has them or is it a lost cause? :?

if you have a sexed pair, one of them(the smaller of the two, most likely), will have more orange tint in his tail or on the body-it's not allways a strong color difference.do you see the pair 'scrubbing' any area near an anemone, or on your rock?how long have they been together in your tank?
(I'm assuming you know that they lay eggs :wink: )

I've only had them for about 2 month's now, they were paired up at the store, they looked so good together I had to take them both, and yea, one is smaller than the other, I guess that would be the male, the larger one is the preggy one.
I just got an Anemone, about 2 weeks now, it's the Sebae Anemone, I know, it's probably the hardest one to keep but it still had it's zooxanthella in the LFS, and in the past 2 weeks it's has gotten even darker, cross my fingers, the Clowns took to it right away, I wonder if that's what got them in the mood.
Is there any way to save the egg's?

check out the threads on the captive breeders column post.you are probly gonna have to let them spawn on wherever, and then catch the fry.
there still is the possibility that the fatter clown IS overeating.luck!

Raising clowns is alot of work, and could be alot of fun. I would recommend you to pick up Joyce Wilkersons Clownfish book. It goes into detail on collection of the larvea, proper tank set up for raising, proper foods and is spieces specific for thier care needs.

It takes having a green water culture, rotifers, and brine shrimp for most spieces. I know A ocillaris and percula are the least needy. I am not sure on the skunks. Once you have all your food sources for the larvea they must be seperated and fed usually twice daily untill they get on larger foods. If you wean them too early they will all die. So what Im trying to say is it takes dedication. If you want to do it, get the book. HTH

well she's not fat anymore, and I have no idea were the egg's are, if there are any, I guess I'm going to have to do some reading, if I miss out on this one batch maybe I'll have more opportunities later.
