It looked as if my be he got stuck and then the rest of the critters ate him just a Skeleton was left. I not doing so good as he was my most favorite fish and now he is gone. May he rest in peace. JAN. 3rd 2002 to Dec. 6 2002.

Sorry about your loss. It's weird how we can get so attached to our fish'es. But I know how you feel.
Now you need to go down to the LFS and pick yourself out another beautiful fish that you want!

LOL! Half the reason I'm buying a new 180 Gallon, is so that my 5 year old Sailfin has swimming room! I look at the 180 display tank at my LFS, with prolly a dozen fish in it... 3 different kinds of tangs, all swimming peacefully together... then I imagine my big-ass Sailfin getting dropped into a tank that size... and realize I wouldn't be able to keep any other tang's in there w/ him....

...
..
.

And ask my LFS guy to tell me again what that new tank's gonna cost.
Attached? I don't think that's quite strong enough of a word!

Sorry to hear how things turned out Darrell. Any idea's what offed him?
Was the fish showing signs of illness? Eating well? How big of a tank, what tankmates?

Geeze, as much as it pains me to sit here and look at him swimming around... I have to admit, I'd give up Mr. A-hole if I could quit smoking. Hang in there man, every craving, remember why. Supposedly they pass...

LOL! You'll have to tell me your trick....

Many years ago when I met my (now) wife, I told her I planned on quitting once I had kids.... And honestly meant it. I still can see my Mom sitting at the kitchen table the first time she caught me... w/ a cigarette in her hand, pointing her finger at me while telling me not to smoke... I honestly meant it when I told her, I don't wanna do that to my kids.

Whelp... she's 8-weeks pregnant.... I got 32 more to figure out how the hell I'm gonna do it. Last time I tried I made 3 days, and gave myself a bloody nose trying to get the silverware drawer, umm.... un-stuck.

Hmmm.. I'm gonna need some help!

Some of the other things to trick your body. Give up coffee for at least a year. Drink hot tea with just a little sugar. Favorite flavors are Constant Comment and Earl Grey. I mean it. Coffee will start to taste nasty for awhile. But once your off long enough to get rid of the poisons in your system, coffee will taste much better.

Another thing, if you go have a brewsky with the boys at the tap. Don't go. Don't set foot in a taven for at least a year. If you got to drink a cold one, do it at home.

Lemon drops can help a bunch.

Think of that car payment going up in smoke each month. That's what it is worth. Most smokers underestimate just how much they spend on smokes.

Break some other habits. Don't stop every morning for that paper, smokes, coffee and donut at the gas station. In fact, don't even go in the nasty place, do a pay at the pump and get your paper elsewhere.

Your best friend that smokes, is quitting with you, or you just don't see him much anymore. Enforce a No Smoking area in your work place.

Everytime you want one, just take a deep breath, relax, and remember why your quitting. So you can be there for your loved ones and those that love you. Smokers will never understand that's it's a nasty addiction until they are EX-smokers that are still living.

That's the key, to still be living. One of my grandfathers, smoked cigarettes, cigars and chewed. He got older and found that he simply wasn't able to do many things anymore. No surprise there. But when he could not catch his breath, we told him to take it easy, he was an old man. He got to where he was becoming what we call senile. I know now that it was simply a case of not being able to breathe. So we thought he was senile. It was sad to see him go, but he just gave up. I am positive that if he could have simply caught his breath, he would still be here today.

We had a neighbor lady. You know the kind, a mother to everybodys child in the neighborhood. A super nice person, who also knew when she needed to keep these young ones in line when they thought nobody was looking. She smoked. She died before she could have retired from most jobs because she could not quit the cigarettes that were killing her. She could not get her breath. In her last years, she lived in the little travel trailer next to the house. The trailer that she and her husband were supposed to go see the country in when he retired. Being on oxygen, the mask and hose would reach the little bathroom, coffee pot, and chair she tried to sleep in. She was unable to lay down to sleep. It was appalling, even dangerous. Mask in one hand, cigarette in the other. One day she decided her quality of life was more than she could bear. She had her husband take her to the hospital, strap her in bed and do nothing for her. Her heart raced as she tried to get enough air in her lungs. She did not last the day.

You only need to be close to a few people like this to make you really hate tobacco products. I wish you all the success in breaking your addiction. Keep in mind that at the 6month point, you will be patting your pockets. That is when the last of a long term chemical is working out of your system. Get past that and you have it made. Do it one day at a time and before you know it a year will have gone by.

darrel,

haven't added a fish in about two years. well, about six months ago i did add a chevron tang. didn't quarantine - my bad. anyway, within about two days i had an amyloodinium outbreak which wiped out about 8 fish in my tank, four of which were beautiful tangs (lepizi, purple, scopas and black) that i had for about 2 years each.

the only consolation i had was that my hippo, which is typically the first to die in these type situations, made it through and is still kicking butt today.

so, i feel your pain. it happens to the best and worst of us. all u can do is continue to provide pristine conditions for your wild caught pets.

good luck.

Hey, Darrel, I am on my 3rd attempt to quit smoking. It's good that you have that self determination to tell your brain not to pick up that cigarette again. I can see that you will get over the loss of your precious pretty soon.
