I have never purchased from them but their prices are very high, and they are selling clean up kits which I don't quite understand. They recommend 5 horseshoe crabs for a 75 gal. tank?????????

never used or heard of these guys but i wouldn't if i were you. for what you get they want alot of money. caribbean rock isn't anything to get excited about IMHO. I got my first 65lb of rock from gulfview it had amazing life and color but the shape and density was disapointing to be kind i am thinking that these guys are about the same maybe worse as the pics on there websight arn't that impressive. have you checked out

for about the same money you can get some really nice looking pieces. i would consider using aquacultured rock for base to add biodiversity, but would stick with something porous where posible. i know i have read alot on this board about people making there own and seeding it with a couple pounds but i have never seen that approach look right in the end. to all those with a mind to flame that statment put up your pics and i would be more then happy to recant that statment if it looks decent.

I have never ordered from this vendor so I know nothing about them. $4/lb with free shipping for cured rock (if I read that correctly) is not overly expensive though.

Personally, I would never put either sand sifting stars or horseshoe crabs in my reef tank as part of a clean-up crew. But that's just my opinion.

-Why would you do this? The aquacultured rock I have purchased has been covered with life (including hard corals).

that is exactly why i would get some. mine was chock full of life. as i understand too some of the life would be things not avalable from pacific rock. that is why i would want it for the biodiversity. but in my opinion it is ugly rock. out of the 65lb i got one piece that i think looks cool. the rest is very cinderblockish. i was just suggesting another more visually apealing rock for upper layers.

Never been impressed with aquacultured rock from the Carribean myself. For our small ecosystems I think rock should be very porous to increase overall surface area for our biological filtration. Figi and other Pacific rock can also have encrusting corals but I personally dont buy it for that(though its always a nice surprise of course), I buy it for filtration and decor in which light porous rock I feel is superior for our needs.
